How did it begin?
Race to Erase was just a small idea that began in 2006 after watching a documentary called Invisible Children. Immediately we felt called to action to spread the word about the children of Northern Uganda through our prayers, time, and money. The next morning we got up to run as usual and thought, "dude, let's do a 5k." We are so excited to use our passion of running to help advocate for those in need around the world.
Why is it called Race to Erase?
We decided on the name Race to Erase because we believe everyone can do their small part, in their own corner of the world to "erase" social injustice. Little by little we hope that events such as Race to Erase shine a light on social injustices across the world and bring awareness to our community. Mother Teresa once said, "We can do no great things, only small things with great love." It is our hope that you too believe that small acts really do make a big difference in the end.
